It is the largest sailing event in the world and also the largest summer festival in the north of Europe: Kieler Woche. The sailing and festival week takes place for ten days and is a world-class sporting event that ensures musical highlights, top-class cultural offers and plenty of fun for big and small. Far more than three million guests arriving from near and far are expected, who can look forward to more than 2000 events.
Having arisen from a large sailing regatta in 1882, Kieler Woche also offers sailing in its complete, fascinating bandwidth. From lasers and 49ers to naval cutters and traditional sailing vessels, right up to ORC yachts – at the largest sailing event of world, boats of almost all sizes start the race. Kieler Woche has long since become a mandatory event for international sailing professionals. In this regard, the maritime highlight is the traditional windjammer parade, with more than 100 tall ships and sailing ships.
